Traffic Access Management (TAM)
CMRPC has a meeting scheduled for May 21st to vote approval of Holden's grant application for DLTA (District Local Technical Assistance) monies. No May meeting was held. The issue will be brought up at the next meeting (no date available at this time).
T/CC discussed the timeline for the development of the TAM. Once the TAM is developed it has to be incorporated into the Zoning By-Laws by Town Meeting vote; the by-laws are themselves being revised per the Master Plan. Can some zoning be amended or changed in the near future to provide some aspects of the TAM?
Traffic Light Sequencing
The "Traffic Control Signal Permit" dated 4/6/78 was received. T/CC recommends that an attempt be made to restore the original signal design of 1977, when the road reconstruction project was undertaken. The design of the Shrewsbury Street/Doyle Road intersection reconstruction should consider the high shrubberies within the island; they do not conform to the Zoning principals for site distance.
Crosswalk at Bullard Street/Wagner Lane
The first requests a crosswalk be installed on Bullard Street at Wagner Lane. It is believed that a crosswalk already exists at Hayfield Road (the other entrance into Wagner Estates). This will be confirmed. T/CC determined that a crosswalk is not warranted here.
Brentwood/Fairhill/Brattle Intersections
The second requests a 20 MPH sign be installed at the intersection of Fairchild Drive and Brentwood, as the stop sign does not appear to reduce traffic speeds. T/CC will survey traffic conditions and will look at the possibility of the stop sign being replaced by "Slow" or "Children at Play" signage. Based on Bob Ferguson's observations and recommendations (see attached sketch), the following recommendations are made:
• Install new stop sign at Fairhill/Brattle intersection including a new "Fairhill" street sign on the same post.
• Remove stop sign at Fairhill/Brentwood intersection and replace with "Children at Play" sign.
• Install new street name signs at Brentwood and Fairhill
• Install intersection ahead "T" in diamond sign at northern and southern direction of travel on Brattle Street before intersection with Fairhill.
New
Unionville Dam: DCR will be improving road drainage on Wachusett Street where it crosses Unionville Pond/Dam. The intent is to slow drainage water to preventing erosion and undermining of the road.
